Minnesota Native Landscapes, a leader in ecological restoration, is looking for an Construction Mechanic to work at its Otsego location. This is a full-time, year-round benefits eligible job.

The Construction Mechanic repairs and performs preventative maintenance on automotive, agricultural, heavy, and small engine equipment used in ecological restoration. The ideal candidate would work M-F 10:30 am - 7:00 pm, but for the right candidate there could be some flexibility to this schedule. Must be able to work some weekend hours as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide-variety of vehicles and equipment used for ecological restoration, including trucks, tractors, excavators, skid loaders, dozers, pumps, chainsaws, chippers, weed whips, ATV/UTVs, among others types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspects tools and equipment to ensure that they are in working order.
  • Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are properly completed.
  • Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper locations.
  • Assists with inventory maintenance of replacement parts and equipment.
  • Updates maintenance and repair logs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified mechanic; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy equipment or auto repair required.
  • Must have, or be willing to acquire, a class A driver's license and must have an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to use power or hand tools.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach and move as needed.
  • Exposure to gasoline vapors and other mechanics fluids.
  • Able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work in the field, as needed, in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
